Real reviews from local families who trust us with their dogs — and keep coming back.
“Meridian is the best kennel in Chico, hands down. My black lab Luna loves it… She always is well taken care of and super tired after coming home — she gets to run around with all her friends. Terry is the best.”
“Terry is the absolute best. He's been so good with our rambunctious adoptee and managed her special needs so well… All the other local places charge about double his prices, so it's a total no-brainer. Customers for life!”
“The moment I arrived at this country-style kennel, I knew my dogs were going to have lots of doggie things to keep their minds and bodies active instead of confined… The enclosures are expansive for daytime freedom and socialization.”
“Driving up, I saw Mr Bear lounging outside with two other big dogs… catching some rays. I was so relieved to see him so relaxed. Thank you, Terry and crew.”
“Great facility — our dogs are always happy when we board them here and are well taken care of. They've added bathing, so the dogs come home nice and clean. Can't say enough great things about this business!”
“Terry was incredibly accessible and reassured me that everything was fine… When we picked her up, she was so happy and well taken care of. It almost seemed like she wanted to stay and play some more!”
A day in the country,
every day of the stay.
Scheduled Play
Every guest gets scheduled play time, every day of the stay — supervised, safe, and grouped by size so every dog has fun with the right crowd.
Ten Open Acres
Room to roam that no in-town kennel can match. Your dog gets fresh air and real country space instead of a concrete run.
Large-Dog Area
A dedicated, roomy area where big dogs can run and stretch out safely — one of the real advantages of a ten-acre country setting.
Small-Dog Area
A separate, calmer space so little ones socialize and play with dogs their own size, always under a watchful eye.
Bath & Spa
Country play means a little mud — so add a bath or deshedding treatment and your dog goes home clean, fresh, and ready for the couch.
Country Comfort
After a full day outside, your dog settles into clean, comfortable quarters for a good night's rest — ready to do it all again tomorrow.

Frequently asked questions.
Do you require an evaluation before boarding?
No — and that's the advantage of a facility with our experience. Over the years we've handled everything from dachshunds to the Chico Police dogs and everything in between. We make our assessment during the visit, taking time to see who plays well with whom — and occasionally deciding a dog is happier exercised on its own. If we ever feel a dog isn't a good fit, we'll talk it over with you. Honestly, most folks who care enough to board their dog have wonderful dogs; some are just more playful than others, and that's perfectly fine.
Why is my dog so tired after a stay? Is something wrong?
Not at all — your dog is simply worn out. There's a lot of stimulation and excitement here, more than they're used to at home. It's a bit like coming back from vacation yourself: they've been on the go, and a good long nap afterward is completely normal.
What is a Bordetella vaccination?
It's the vaccination that helps prevent kennel cough — most easily described as the common cold for dogs.
What's required for my dog to stay?
The county requires that we keep a copy of your dog's rabies certificate on file. We also require verification that your dog is current on distemper, parvo, and Bordetella, and that your dog is in good health so no other guests are put at risk.
Do you supply food?
Yes. We feed Loyal brand, provided by a local Chico feed store — it's easy on the digestive system, and since switching to it we rarely see soft stools. You're always welcome to bring your own food instead.
Can we bring bedding?
Absolutely — something washable like a blanket works best, since bedding can get dirty and you'll want to launder it when you get home. If your dog tends to tear things up, stick with a blanket rather than a stuffed pillow; much less mess.
Can I bring toys from home?
You're welcome to. Honestly, most dogs barely touch them here — there's so much going on. If you do bring something, please skip stuffed animals, rope toys, or anything that soaks up liquid. A plastic toy at least a couple of inches tall is perfect.
